This week's newsletter delves into Samsung's recent foldable phone launches, as well as the new Galaxy 6 Watch.
Many of you are already aware of my thoughts on the Fold 5 as a result of last week's email and my most recent video review. Unfortunately, the Fold 5 offers no notable improvements over its predecessors. This has become a recurrent theme in recent phone releases, and it's pretty disappointing.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 appears to have the upper hand in terms of app experience, with more apps adapted for its vertical ratio. When compared to the Pixel Fold, it makes better use of the extra screen space. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that powers the Fold 5 is also a powerhouse in terms of efficiency.
However, one area where the Fold 5 could use some advancements is in charging speeds. A good comparison could be made with the Nothing Phone 2, and while they both have their limitations when it comes to fast charging, the Samsung's 25W wired charging still falls slightly short compared to other devices.
At the end of the day, it all depends on personal preference and what works best for you! For me though, I think I’ll be sticking with the Pixel Fold.
I recently posted a tweet thread on Twitter about how long the batteries last in both the Galaxy Watch 6 and classic, with both of them basically lasting about a day and a half. That's less than the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro last year, but more than the Standard Watch 5, at least.
In other news, I’ve been super busy this week with videos. Because of the iPhone launch, we've got a ton of iPhone 15 videos planned, accessory videos, a review, and all sorts of other things in the works. So, get ready for quite a lot of iPhone content! (sorry not sorry!)
The watches aren’t as fast as I was hoping them to be either, but still impressive, I suppose. I'm still holding my judgment. I’ll be releasing a Galaxy Watch video in the coming weeks. The Flip review is also releasing some time this week, so be sure to keep an eye out for that!
