🤦🏼‍♂️ Introduction

Google's first foldable is finally here and, as a huge fan of the Samsung Fold, the Pixel Fold is one of the devices I’ve been really excited to get my hands on.

It's got a much wider front screen than the Z Fold 4, which means much less frequent unfolded use. That might sound like a bad thing: why would you want to keep a folding phone closed? Well, ultimately, phones need to be as seamless (pun not actually intended!) and as faff-free to use as possible. What you really want from a folding phone is to only need to open it up for specific uses that increase your productivity. As an example: you don't want to have to open it up just to reply to a message or view notifications or answer a call.

But, with the wider front screen, you really do get a perfect balance between a smart phone and a mini tablet.

The only drawback I've noticed so far is that the Pixel Fold doesn't actually unfold to a completely 180-degree angle; there's still a slight fold, if only about 2-3-degrees! The good thing is that you won't actually notice this unless you're specifically looking for it. And I don't think it's really a flaw in the phone's design at all.

I've switched to the Fold now from the S23 Ultra and I'm loving it so far!

In other news, the Samsung G9 OLED screen turned up and, if you read last week's newsletter, you'll know that the ordering process was a massive ballache (tldr: I preordered it and then it got dropped in price and I was asked to cancel my order and re-order it only to find that the preorder at the lower price was out of stock!).

Well... the ache continued...

The screen turned up in time for me to record the video about it (it's going out next week) BUT there was an issue with the display in that it was making everything look all stretched out and was a nightmare to use. I did eventually find a workaround but in the end I had to return and get a replacement sent out. But all these details will be explained further in this coming week's video, so stay tuned for that and make sure you're subscribed to my YouTube channel.

In other, other news, I've been considering how best to expand the team and the space in order to deliver the most high-quality content I can! I've had the idea of getting an office space so there's a dedicated place to shoot video and footage for the thumbnails. I've also floated the idea of hiring a videographer or someone to help with scripting the videos! I also want to get - and this is pretty much a priority now - an editor that will specifically focus on the Shorts, as we want to keep Shorts going out on a daily basis. Especially as, in the last year, Shorts alone have brought around 25k subscribers to the channel!

Lastly (or, I suppose, other, other, other news!), I've seen that Insta360 have brought out a new product: the Insta360 GO 2, which is being described as the world's smallest action cam! Honestly this thing looks incredible. I'd be surprised if, in a year's time, this camera will be in every home and on every holiday or activity! I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on one and seeing if it's really the final nail in GoPro's coffin!

Lastly, lastly (I'm so good at this! Haha!), thank you so much to the people who responded to my last newsletter. I'm so sorry I haven't got back to you all yet but, rest assured, they are in my inbox and I WILL respond.
