Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro - 11 Tips, Tricks and Hidden Features

Let’s kick things off with one of the newest features of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro: customizing the LED lights.

To access this, head into the Samsung Wearable app, navigate to Earbud Controls, and you’ll find the option for 'Earbud Light Controls' at the bottom. Once inside, there’s an important step to remember—remove the buds from the case but don’t put them in your ears just yet. Then, pinch and hold the stems to turn the LEDs on or off.

You can customize the LED patterns to blink, fade in and out, or stay steady. Keep in mind, though, these LEDs remain on while the earbuds are in your ears. So, if you're walking down a dark street at night, you'll have a glowing effect. Some might think it looks cool, while others may see it as a battery drain. At least you can decide whether or not to turn them on.

One key thing to note: you’ll need to redo this setting each time you take the buds out of the case, as it resets when they’re placed back in.

Voice Controls

Next up is one of the most fun features in the Galaxy Wearable app—voice controls. Simply go into earbud settings, select voice controls, and once enabled, you can control your audio without using a trigger word for a voice assistant. Commands like "Play Music" or "Volume Down" can be spoken directly, which can be incredibly handy if you're at the gym or busy with an activity where you can’t reach your phone.

Replacement Earbud Tips

One thing you’ll want to be cautious about is the earbud tips. There’s a fit test in the app to help you find the right size, but removing the tips can be tricky. Many users have reported tearing the tips when trying to take them off, and Samsung has even delayed some shipments to address this issue.

I recommend looking out for Comply foam eartips as a replacement option. While they’re not available just yet, these memory foam tips generally provide a better fit and more comfort compared to the standard silicone ones.

360 Audio Recording

If you’re recording videos with your Galaxy Buds 3 Pro paired to your phone, you can enable 360 audio for an immersive sound experience. Just head into the camera app, go to Advanced Video Options, and toggle on 360 audio recording. You’ll see an icon in the camera app when it’s activated, and it will capture 360-degree audio while filming.

Pairing with Windows Devices

If you're using a Windows device, pairing is super easy. Hold the button on the bottom of the case while it’s open, and the LEDs will flash different colors. Bring the buds near your Windows machine, and a prompt will appear to connect them without having to dig through Bluetooth settings. It’s a much faster process.

Read Notifications Aloud

Another useful feature is the ability to have notifications read aloud. This is great if you’re working out or listening to music at work but need to stay updated without looking at your phone. You can customize which apps send voice notifications and choose whether they read the full message or just a summary.

Finding Lost Earbuds

Worried about losing your earbuds? Samsung’s Find My feature can help you locate them individually on a map. Use the Search Nearby option to locate one earbud via Bluetooth, and the phone will guide you using a hot-or-cold method to track it down. However, keep in mind that this feature only works for the buds themselves, not the case. If you lose both buds, it’s best to find one, then place it far away before starting the process again to find the other.

Auto Switching Audio Sources

One of the coolest features is automatic audio switching between Samsung devices. Once logged into the same Samsung account and with the Galaxy Wearable app installed, the buds will seamlessly switch between devices. For example, you could be listening to music on your tablet and then take a call from your phone without having to manually switch the connection.

Neck Stretch Reminders

For those of us who tend to hunch over desks for long periods, there’s a feature called Neck Stretch Reminders. When enabled, the buds monitor your posture and alert you if you’ve been sitting in one position for too long. You’ll want to calibrate the earbuds properly to ensure it accurately detects your movement.

Low Latency Gaming Mode

If you’re into gaming or watching videos, you’ll appreciate the low latency gaming mode available in the Labs section. This reduces audio lag, ensuring the sound syncs perfectly with what’s happening on-screen, which is essential for gaming or precise video editing.

Diagnostics in Samsung Members App

Finally, did you know you can run your own diagnostics on the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro? In the Samsung Members app, you can check for issues before contacting support. Head to the Support section, tap on Diagnostics, and run a range of tests to see if your earbuds are functioning as they should.

That’s a wrap on some of the standout features of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro! Whether it’s the LED customizations, voice commands, or gaming mode, there’s a lot to explore. Let me know in the comments what feature excites you the most, and don’t forget to subscribe for more tips and tricks like this!
