As the doors to CES 2025 opened, I couldn’t help but feel the same sense of excitement I’ve had every year. This time, I was on a mission to uncover some of the world’s firsts in display technology—gaming and productivity monitors, TVs, projectors—and perhaps, just maybe, a long-awaited Samsung 57” Curved OLED (fingers crossed). But while the technology steals the show, this year, I brought along a secret weapon: the Plaud.AI Note Pin.
My New CES Companion: Plaud.AI Note Pin
CES is an exhilarating but overwhelming event. With announcements coming thick and fast, my memory (not the best at the best of times) would struggle to keep up. Enter Plaud.AI, the world’s #1 AI voice recorder brand.
Their new Note Pin, a wearable AI recorder, has been a game-changer. Small enough to clip onto my shirt or wear around my neck, it records 20 hours continuously, stores everything on 64GB of onboard memory, and promises to summarise all the chaos into neat, organised notes.
It even recognises voices, attaches names to notes, and supports 112 languages. Whether you’re at a meeting, seminar, or, like me, navigating a week of tech announcements, this tiny device is a lifesaver.
Kicking Off with Samsung
Samsung was the first brand I visited, and here’s what they brought to CES 2025:
M9 Smart Monitor
- 32” 4K OLED screen with VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 400.
- Built-in 4K camera for video calls.
- AI Picture Optimiser adjusts settings for gaming and productivity.
- 4K AI Upscaling for sharper visuals.
G8 Gaming Monitor
- The world’s first 240Hz 27” 4K OLED.
- 165 PPI, the highest pixel density among competitors.
- Ultra-responsive 0.03ms response time.
G6 Gaming Monitor
- The world’s first 500Hz OLED on a 1440p display.
Odyssey 3D Monitor
- Glasses-free 3D using an AI-powered camera to convert 2D to 3D in real time.
ViewFinity S8
- A 37” 16:9 4K Display, 34% larger than its predecessor.
- Built-in KVM switch and 90W USB-C connection.
What About TVs?
Samsung’s 900F & 990F NEO QLED 8K TVs bring:
- Glare-free panels (similar to the S95D).
- Improved brightness and contrast.
- A sleek new UI with quicker access to frequently used settings.
The S95F OLED TV boasts:
- 2000 peak nits, a 30% improvement over previous models.
- Wireless VRR up to 144Hz.
Projectors: The Surprise Hit of CES
While big brands played it safe with TVs, Valerion’s VisionMaster MAX Projector stole the spotlight:
- A 220” home cinema projector with 3000 lumens and a 15,000:1 contrast ratio.
- Features like IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+.
- Industry-leading 4ms latency for gaming.
The team at Valerion showed incredible passion for their product, and I was impressed by its versatility—perfect for home cinema, gaming setups, or even a backyard theatre.
LG’s Bold Innovations
LG brought some of the most exciting announcements:
LG UltraGear GX9
- The world’s first 5K2K Bendable OLED Display.
- 45” curved screens with 165Hz refresh rate and 5K2K resolution.
- Built-in WebOS on some models for added convenience.
LG G5 TV
- An Alpha 11 AI Gen 2 Processor powers this 55”-83” TV.
- 165Hz refresh rate—even better than most gaming TVs.
- Ambient light sensors in Filmmaker Mode for precise picture adjustments.
What Stood Out This Year?
2025 feels like a year of refinement rather than revolution. Major brands focused on brighter displays, faster refresh rates, and incremental improvements. However, companies like Valerion and Plaud.AI showcased real innovation:
- Valerion’s projector is a game-changer for home entertainment.
- The Plaud.AI Note Pin redefines convenience for professionals, with features like real-time transcription and AI-powered organisation.
Looking Ahead: Is CES Playing It Safe?
While this year showcased plenty of impressive products, the industry seems to be playing it safe, focusing on evolution over revolution. Yet, that leaves room for underdogs to shine.
